Reign Academy of Dance

Reign Academy of Dance is a vibrant and ambitious performing arts academy based in Hillsborough, Northern Ireland, providing high-quality dance and performance training in a positive, supportive environment.

Since opening our doors in March 2024, Reign has grown from just five students to a thriving academy of more than 150 young performers. At the heart of everything we do is a commitment to helping every student develop confidence, technique, creativity and a genuine love of performing.

We welcome dancers of all abilities, from complete beginners to advanced and competitive performers, offering training across a wide range of dance and performing arts styles.

Our experienced teaching team combines strong technical foundations with current industry knowledge, creating opportunities for students to learn, progress and challenge themselves. Whether a student attends for fun, wants to compete, or dreams of pursuing professional training and a career in the performing arts, we encourage every dancer to work towards their own individual goals.

More Than a Dance School

At Reign, we believe training goes far beyond learning choreography.

Our students have opportunities to take part in competitions, performances, workshops, industry training, summer intensives and major events, alongside representing the academy on both national and international stages.

Reign dancers have proudly represented

Team Northern Ireland at the Dance World Cup, competing alongside dancers from across the globe and achieving outstanding international placements, including a World Bronze Medal.

We are incredibly proud of the supportive community that has developed within Reign. Our aim is to create an environment where students feel encouraged to work hard, take chances, build friendships and become confident performers both on and off the stage.

Our Vision

We want every student who walks through our doors to feel that there is a place for them at Reign.

For some, dance will be an enjoyable weekly hobby. For others, it may become their future career. Whatever their journey, our role is to provide the training, encouragement and opportunities that allow them to discover just how much they are capable of.

Ready to join Reign Academy of Dance?

Registration is now open for our 2026/27 classes, welcoming dancers of all abilities — from complete beginners taking their very first class to experienced and advanced performers looking to develop their training.

Students can join at any point throughout the term, subject to class availability.

Your first class is FREE as a trial, giving your dancer the opportunity to experience the class, meet our teaching team and find the right fit before committing.

Dance World Cup 2026: Set to be a Celebration of Talent in Dublin

What an amazing experience Dance World Cup 2026 in Dublin was for Reign Academy of Dance! This summer, our dancers had the honour of representing Team Northern Ireland, competing alongside talented dancers from across the world on one of the biggest international dance stages. For Reign, a school that only opened in March 2024, seeing our dancers proudly representing Northern Ireland just over two years later was an incredibly special achievement. We were so proud to see many of our routines placing within the Top 10 and Top 20 in the world, an amazing achievement for our dancers and our academy. A Bronze Medal for Reign One of the highlights of the week came from Mya McFaul, who performed her Song & Dance solo Born to Entertain. Mya scored an outstanding 91%, placing 3rd in the world and bringing home a Dance World Cup bronze medal for Team Northern Ireland. Mya also achieved an amazing 10th in the world with her Contemporary solo, scoring 89.6%. Team Northern Ireland Captain We were also extremely proud to see our own Faye Thorman selected as Team Northern Ireland Captain for 2026. Faye proudly represented Northern Ireland at the Dance World Cup Opening Ceremony at Dublin’s 3Arena before taking to the stage throughout the week to compete alongside her Reign teammates. Reign on the BBC Our Dance World Cup journey was made even more special when Reign Academy, Team NI Captain Faye Thorman and bronze medallist Mya McFaul were featured by the BBC, including a feature on BBC Newsline. It was wonderful to see our dancers and their achievements recognised back home. Proud of Team Reign Dance World Cup 2026 was about much more than medals and placements. Our dancers showed determination, teamwork and incredible support for one another throughout the entire experience. A huge thank you to our teachers, parents, families, sponsors and everyone who supported our dancers on their journey to Dublin. Most importantly, congratulations to every Reign dancer who earned the opportunity to represent Team Northern Ireland on the world stage. We couldn’t be prouder of you all. Dance World Cup 2026 — an experience we will never forget!

Reign Students to Perform at Belfast Mela Festival

We are delighted to announce that students from Reign Academy of Dance will be performing at the Belfast Mela Festival, in conjunction with SADA (South Asian Dance Academy) and ArtsEkta. This is a fantastic opportunity for our dancers to experience a different style of dance, work alongside other performers and celebrate the rich diversity of cultures represented at Belfast Mela. Our students will take to the stage at Botanic Gardens on Sunday 30th August, showcasing a specially prepared Bollywood-inspired performance. We are incredibly excited for our dancers to be part of such a vibrant cultural event and are grateful to SADA and ArtsEkta for giving them this opportunity. We can’t wait to see our Reign dancers take to the Mela stage! I can also make this shorter and punchier to match the style of your other website news posts.

The AZ Collective at Reign Academy

We are proud to welcome The AZ Collective to Reign Academy of Dance for another exciting season of industry-focused dance training in Belfast. The AZ Collective brings together ambitious young dancers for high-level training with some of the UK and Ireland’s leading professional dancers, teachers and choreographers. Hosted at Reign Academy of Dance, Hillsborough, each session gives dancers the opportunity to step outside their regular training, experience different teaching styles and develop their versatility, confidence and performance skills. Following an incredible first season, SZN.02 will continue to provide dancers with access to exciting guest choreographers and fresh, current training throughout the year. We are incredibly proud to have The AZ Collective based at Reign and to help create more opportunities for young dancers to access exceptional industry-led training here in Northern Ireland. Meet the Teaching Team

We’re delighted to welcome Katie Rodgers to the Reign Academy teaching team. A Belfast-born performer, teacher and choreographer, Katie-Rose is a graduate of Millennium Performing Arts, London, and a member of Phase Professional Commercial Company, led by internationally acclaimed choreographer Joshua Wharmby. Katie-Rose continues to train monthly with Joshua Wharmby alongside industry leaders Joshua Pilmore, Zak Nemorin and Millie Duniam, ensuring she remains at the forefront of commercial dance training. Joshua Wharmby’s outstanding career includes serving as Show Choreographer for the MTV European Music Awards, working on major international productions, Netflix projects, global music artists and high-profile football campaigns, bringing world-class industry knowledge directly into Katie-Rose’s continued professional development. (joshwharmby.com) With extensive training in Commercial, Hip Hop, Jazz, Contemporary, Acrobatic Arts and Musical Theatre, Katie-Rose brings a wealth of knowledge and industry experience to our students. She also holds an LCM Grade 8 Musical Theatre (Distinction) and combines exceptional technical training with real industry experience. Katie-Rose is a proud three-time Dance World Cup Bronze Medallist, earning all three medals with her own self-choreographed Hip Hop and Commercial routines while representing Team Northern Ireland. Her success as both a performer and choreographer, combined with years of competition experience, gives her exceptional insight into technique, performance quality, artistry and competition preparation. Katie-Rose is passionate about inspiring the next generation of dancers and is excited to help every student build confidence, develop their skills and achieve their full potential.
